The IIW Symposium on Intelligent Welding Manufacturing 2025 (IWM-Symposium 2025) is dedicated to the advancements in key technologies for future intelligent/smart, robotic, and automated welding manufacturing.
This symposium will serve as the opening event of the technical program for the 2025 IIW General Assembly and International Conference, held in Genoa, Italy, from June 22-27, 2025.
Following the success of IWM-Symposium 2023 in Singapore and IWM-Symposium 2024 in Rhodes, Greece, where over 100 papers were presented, this event will continue to drive innovation in welding manufacturing. Selected papers from previous symposia have resulted in two Topical Collections in Welding in the World.
Scope of Welding Manufacturing:
The symposium covers all welding, joining, additive manufacturing, and allied processes, including welding, joining, cladding, additive manufacturing (especially wire arc additive manufacturing - WAAM), repair deposition, and remanufacturing.
Topics for IWM-Symposium 2025 include but are not limited to:
Sensing, monitoring, dynamic modeling, and control of welding processes
Robotization of welding manufacturing
Human-robot collaborative welding and additive manufacturing
Application of deep learning, AI, computer vision, and signal/image processing in welding
Data-driven techniques in welding manufacturing
Abstract submission deadline: March 1, 2025
Submit at: IIW 2025 submission site
Select "Symposium on Intelligent Manufacturing" when prompted.
Theme for 2025: Generative AI!
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Qiang Ye (Professor of Mathematics and Distinguished University Research Professor, University of Kentucky), who has led groundbreaking studies on generative AI for intelligent welding.
Submission requirements:
Only abstracts are required (not full papers). However, selected authors may submit full papers within three months for consideration in a Topical Collection of Welding in the World.
Accepted authors for IWM-Symposium 2025 can also participate in the full IIW 2025 event (June 22-27) and present papers in other Commissions if accepted.
Looking forward to seeing you in Genoa!
